I can feel you like the soft wind blowing, on a warm day. I can hear you like a whisper, speaking words of love. I can see you in my reflection…when I catch a glimpse of myself laughing. It’s all because of you. Everything I am, Everything I’m becoming, Everything I want to be, is because of you.
Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul.”

The closer I get
The closer I get to God, He says, "Not close enough, get closer". He is pulling me. He is showing me. He is changing me. My eyes open, seeing who I am for the first time. The more I want to be like God, He shows me I am so far from reaching His likeness. My flaws revealed like a message from heaven saying, "it's not enough...I require more." Keep changing me God. Keep pulling me. Keep showing me.

Spiritual Protein
Any figure girl will tell you how important diet is in training for a competition. Diet is approx. 80% of your success, with training and genetics making up the rest. The diet can be hard and takes planning, preparation and discipline (and good attitude). I know from experience, if I stick to it eventually my cravings for carbs will diminish and I’ll be on the right track. I compare my journey with God to my diet. When I’m hungry I want to eat the first thing my body craves which is usually carbs, but I know if I will just eat my protein first, my hunger will be satisfied and I will be successful. It’s the same with surrendering myself to God. I think I know want I want and what will be best for me but I know if I seek God for His will I know I will be completely satisfied and completely successful! Cheating on my diet makes me feel discouraged, defeated and ashamed. I feel exactly the same way when I choose my way instead of listening to God. So…I’m determined to eat my “spiritual protein” first which will make me a victorious over comer! Hebrews 10:36 “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God you will receive what He has promised.”

Love + Mercy Go Together
Today I’m reminded of God’s steadfast love and mercy. This reminder came in the form of a human I am proud to call my friend. God has put people in my life that have inspired me to pursue greatness. My friend doesn’t even realize the impact she has made in my life. A true friend is someone who knows everything about you, even the things you are ashamed of but still loves you. A true friend takes your hand when you need new inspiration and gently pushes you forward. To be a friend is to love and show mercy when it is not deserved. I’m thankful He has given me a friend who embodies love and mercy. I’m learning that the two go together.
Lamentations 3:22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercy endures forever.
P.S. Great 5:30 a.m. cardio session with Laura…now that’s a true friend!

It is Well with my Soul
It's amazing to me that someone who has had such trauma in their life could write the words, "It is well with my soul", but that is what Horatio Spafford did in the 1800's after losing his daughters in a shipwreck. (He also suffered many other horrible events in his life.) Horatio knew God's miraculous power to change a person's grieving heart. No person could truly have peace after all the things he endured without knowing God. My life, thankfully, has not been as traumatic, but I also know God's peace. The peace came in one instant after I said , "God, I surrender my will to you." The circumstances in my life didn't change and... I didn't win the lotto, didn't get a promotion, didn't win an award. Only one thing changed, I surrendered. Now I can truly say, "it is well with my soul."
Psalms 143:8 "Let the morning bring me your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift my soul."

Jesus, Be Mine
...a perfect day to celebrate love. Today I felt love, God's love for me. As I worshipped Him in church this morning, I felt his love like never before. This year I'm trying to figure out love. Love is very complicated...I love the beach, I love peanut butter, I love sunshine. What does it mean to love? If love never fails, according to 1 Cor. 13:8, then I'm not sure I know how to love because I have failed when it comes to love. I pray on my journey God teaches me how to love.
1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." Jesus, Lover of my soul, Be Mine and teach me to love.
P.S. No workout today.

New Day New Mercy New Life
Alarm goes off, 5:45. Eyes barely open, I’m thinking… breathing. My first thought is, “It’s Friday”. Next thought…”It’s a brand new day. I haven’t made one mistake, yet…good start.” It’s amazing that I can go to sleep, wake up and start all over. Yes, my yesterdays follow me, but tomorrow will be my today…so here’s to the best today I can live!
Lamentations 3:22 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never end: they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
P.S. no workout today, going to celebrate: New day. New Mercy. New Life.
